Dr. Mahdi Zolfaghari, the director of the Iran Language Institute, presented a report on the activities of the ILI, detailing the programs, achievements, and challenges faced by this educational institute at the meeting of the general managers of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults.

According to the ILI's Public Relations and International Affairs Department, Dr. Zolfaghari stated that the ILI, as a part of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, is the oldest language-teaching institution in the country. He expressed his belief that no other center or institution in Iran, or even in the Middle East, can match our longevity. When we refer to a 100-year-old institution, it means that all subsequent establishments are part of our historical legacy.

Referring to Resolution 1026 of the Supreme Council of Education, he stated: “Based on this resolution, the responsibility for teaching non-English languages in schools has been assigned to the Iran Language Institute. Therefore, we ask the general managers of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults in the provinces to engage and negotiate with the provincial education offices. We want every province that is prepared to offer these courses to be introduced to us so that they can be implemented as a pilot program in that province. You can contribute in this area by collaborating with the provincial education offices, and all the resources of the ILI are available to support the implementation of this upstream assignment.”

Zolfaghari also mentioned the new tests and asked the provincial general managers to negotiate with the provinces' universities regarding them.

He called the most important program of the ILI to attract and retain language learners and continued: “This important thing requires all-round synergy and we hope you can help us in this matter.”

Increasing satisfaction in the ILI family, outsourcing and needs analysis in language teaching, and attracting new resources through the development of dedicated educational partners were other issues that Zolfaghari emphasized paying more attention to in the provinces.

In this meeting, the director of the Iran Language Institute also presented a report on income and expenses, welfare payments for employees and teachers, designing and holding educational aid webinars, the cost of equipment and renovation, conducting mock tests, etc.

In another part of his speech, he expressed the practical actions of the next year in the ILI, and in this regard, he addressed issues such as the development of the LSP courses, short-term and subject-oriented courses, the development of off-site education, the development and production of educational aid content and new resources, including story books, etc.

The director of the Iran Language Institute also expressed the challenges and opportunities and asked the general managers to cooperate more with the ILI in these areas.

At the end of this meeting, the general directors expressed their questions and views, and the director of the ILI also answered them.
