Amid the difficult days of the American invasion of Iran, the ILI does its part in aiding the children in the south of the country through educational means.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of the Iran Language Institute, in a supportive move toward the children and young adults living on the Hormuz Island in southern Iran, which has been the theater of the US’s invasion, the ILI decided to grant them scholarships for the autumn term.
In this regard, Dr. Mahdi Zolfaghari, the Director of the ILI said, “Granting scholarships to these loved ones is beyond a mere educational aid. It is an effort to realize educational justice in deprived areas and special attention to undiscovered talents in the country's islands. We believe that the children of Hormuz have unique capacities that when they are equipped with knowledge and international languages, they can make not only the island but also the country proud in the future.”
Referring to the region's volatile situation, he added, "We recognize that the instability and tensions in the south of the country place a heavy psychological burden on families, particularly on children and young adults. Under these circumstances, education must not cease; rather, it should be made accessible to all as a powerful tool for combating despair and fostering psychological stability."
This decision followed a meeting between Zeinab, a teenage girl from the Hormuz Island, and the Director of the ILI, leading to the scholarships for all children and young adults on the island.
It is worth noting that this measure aligns with the ILI's ongoing policy of supporting border regions. Last year, following a visit to Hormozgan Province and the inauguration of branches of the Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Youth on the islands of Abu Musa, Siri, and Greater Tunb, Dr. Zolfaghari provided free online language learning opportunities for the residents of these islands for a period of one year.
